Information overload. We have seen so much today. We were picked up at 8am, and driven to the airport. In the car two other guys on the same trip, both from walthamstow. Small world. We sped off to the airport, where we checked in for our flight. We had breakfast, and after a short wait e walked out to our plane... A saab prop plane (can't remember the plane type). The service, operated by REX or regional express, was a short 30mins flight to kangeroo island... A real hop skip and jump,... Pardon the pun.

The plane journey was smooth, and we got to see the fleurie peninsular from the air... And a lil taster of kangeroo island as well. The plane landed at kingscote airport... Or kingscote international airport (so called as all flights go over seas.... Wah wah wah! ). The runway was a dirt track, and the terminal was a small concrete hut. Our tour guides met us and we had a quick wee stop, collected our bags from the plane and hopped on the tour bus. First stop was a beach on the north coast. At first sight we just saw rocks and bewildered as we were told pf the sandy beach. We were then pointed to a small path through some large boulders... This lead us to a remarkable swcluded beach... Mainly tourist frree.. Unless they know of the path that is. On returning to the car park we had teas and coffees and a biscuit. Then it was on to Latimer national park for some wildlife spotting. We were walked throught the bush spotting wallabies, kangeroos and some protected bird species. We then had a spot of koala spotting near the center of the island. On return to the tour bus we found lunch awaiting. Chicken, salads with cold crisp wine followed by cheesecake... In a devine setting, nothing but shrubland and the wildlife to view. After lunch we drove down to seal bay to view the seals. We were taken right down onto the beach, within 8m of the sunbathing sleepy seals.
It was a fantastic experience... And we all sat there whilst we watch several juveniles stir up some trouble on the beach (seals not humans). We then drove to kingscote to get dropped of fat our hotel. The hotel was a 150km drive as it was on the opposite side of the island, so driving on the dusty roads it was a bumpy ride.
kingscote was a small quiet town with a long sweeping bay. Primarily a fishing town, its also home to some fairy penguins, although some people found this offensive to gays, they renamed them to small penguins. Lee and i decided to go on a walk to see them.. Of course u need to take the official tour and also visit the small aquarium. After a shower and some dinner (a rather cheap dinner i felt embarressed by the price we were bing charged for the quality of the meal) we went on down to the aquarium had a look round and went on the tour. The 'aquarium' was 6 fishtanks with some of the species u would find off the shores of kangaroo island. One particular fish, the king george whiting, i'd had for dinner and was great eating. A high light of the aquarium was the leafy sea dragon, a spectacular sight and rare. The tour began with a talk about the fish in the aquariums. We were then shown a dead frozen penguin (not sure why). And then we went out on the tour. We only saw 1 penguin (we were for warned) but that didn't deter us. After the tour was over, we went back to the hotel and went to sleep.
