Day 6
------------------------------------------------------
12:15
as lee has decided to take some driving responsibilities, i am free to update u all on what we've done so far today. I picked up the car around 9am while lee sorted out breakfast. We then got in the car, fiddled with the sat nav a little, but got a little frustrated as i managed to set it up for somewhere else in adelaide... However we had a decent map so we made our way out of the city heading south.... The lady sat nav voice screaming at me to turn round..... So i muted her. We headed 72 kms south... Our destination the fleurieu peninsula. We headed first to a sleepy seaside resort called victor harbour. We headed directly south of adelaide along the aptly named 'main south road'. This lead us through the McLaren vale, renowed for its vineyards.... If u have ever had a glass of hardy's or waverly's it probably came from here. The road sweaps up into the mountains and winds between the valleys, carpeted with vineyards. After 90mins we reach victor harbour. Its a weekday and early, so not much is open. We pop into the tourist information and set upon by a tall thin bearded old man... Only to happy to point us to the interesting parts of victor harbour. One of the main attractions is granite island... A small island made up of 'granite' rock. The island is connected to the mainland by a long boardwalk which has a horse drawn tram that can transport you back and forth if you are a lazy so and so... Or elderly.
We walked around the island, admiring the vies and the massive rocks that have come to form it. There were no penguins on the island.. Or none out in view.. So we saunted back to the car (it was a good 90min walk around the island). I managed to work the sat nav, and plummed in middleton... A small point on the coast where it was good for surfing. There wasnt that much there so we doubled back and headed back past victor towards cape jarvis.. Our destination rapid bay.
------------------------------------------------------
17:00
we find ourselves back in the bar at the hotel watching the cricket. Just got back, and england seem to have done well with the ball. Since we left last time we have visited the large hills at Rapid Bay .... Then driven along the slithering roads along the coast.. Back up towards adelaide, stopping at Port Noalunga for a bite to eat, then heading up through the various suburbs of Adelaide.. back to the Hotel.
PICTURES OF THE DAY
------------------------------------------------------
18:00
again, whilst watching the cricket, and trying to finish my bit for the day, we get talking to another aussie. This time a retired accountant who use to work for news international.... Now as harry hill would say.. What are the chances of that happening....
Anyway.... staying in our hotel is a 'premier league' basketball team... Some sort of taipans or something... Either that or theres a 'tallest man competion' being held at the hotel.
the hotel is very busy this evening, the bar is ramed with middleaged types of all sizes... lee would also like to mention that the fashion knows no bounds......
